The project is a side-hustle e-commerce store selling glass water jugs designed for desk workers, aimed at helping people track and increase their daily water intake. Created by the author to address personal hydration challenges, the product features time gradations on borosilicate glass, making it easy to monitor water consumption throughout the day.

Manufacturing and Production

The creator sourced the product through Alibaba, starting with 40 potential factories and eventually narrowing down to one after sample testing. Initial production began with 200 units, scaling to 1,000 units per order. Fulfillment is handled personally from their basement in Toronto, with custom packaging developed in collaboration with the manufacturing partner.

Marketing and Customer Acquisition

Initial customer base grew organically through word-of-mouth, primarily in WeWork environments. Approximately 12% of sales come from repeat customers, often purchasing additional units as gifts. Paid advertising efforts (Facebook, Reddit, Pinterest, Instagram) were ultimately discontinued due to poor profitability, especially after iOS privacy changes.

Community Response

The product received positive feedback, with users appreciating its practical design and compact profile. Potential customers showed interest in the technical aspects, particularly the borosilicate glass construction and quality control measures. The creator’s transparent approach to manufacturing and willingness to engage with community questions contributed to the project’s perceived credibility.
